Iowa Sex Offender Registry
In an effort to help its citizens stay
informed the city is placing a link on this site to the Iowa Sex Offender
Registry. This registry can be used to perform a search in your local
Iowa community to insure you stay informed of any potential threats
in your area. Instructions on how to use this registry are located on
the site and easy to follow.
Please be advised
that even though this registry is updated daily not every offender may
be listed at the time of your search. You may be asked to accept the
terms of the registry before being allowed to proceed.

City of Onslow Water Supply
Consumer Confidence Report
This report is designed to inform you about the quality water and service
we deliver to you every day. We are committed to ensuring a quality
of your water. We routinely monitor for constituents in our drinking
water according to Federal and State laws. This report covers our monitoring
for the period of January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2007.
The City of Onslow’s water supply
obtains its water from the Silurian aquifer. The Silurian aquifer was
determined to be susceptible to contamination because the characteristics
of the aquifer and overlying materials allow contaminants to move through
the aquifer fairly quickly. The Onslow wells will be somewhat susceptible
to activities such as permitted pesticide applicators, leaking underground
storage tanks, and municipal wastewater dischargers. A detailed evaluation
of your source water was completed by the IDNR, and is available from
the City of Onslow at 563-485-2703.
Drinking water, including bottled water,
may reasonably be expected to contain at least small amounts of some
contaminants. The presence of contaminants does not necessarily indicate
that water posed a health risk. More information about contaminants
or potential health effects can be obtained by calling the Environmental
Protection Agency’s Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791).
Some people may be more vulnerable to
contaminants in drinking water than the general population. Immune-compromised
persons such as persons with cancer undergoing chemotherapy, persons
who have undergone organ transplants, people with HIV/AIDS or other
immune system disorders, some elderly, and infants can be particularly
at risk from infections. These people should seek advice about drinking
water from their health care providers. EPA/CDC guidelines on appropriate
means to lessen the risk of infection by Cryptosporidium and other microbial
contaminants are available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791).
Our water utility is making every effort
to protect the water system from potential security threats. You, as
customer, can also help. If you see any suspicious activity near the
water tower, treatment plant, wells or fire hydrants, please contact
us at 563-485-2703 or the Jones County Sheriff’s Department. We
appreciate your assistance in protecting the water system.
